On Friday China threatened to shoot down Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s plane if she tries to visit Taiwan.
Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the House, will go to Asia this weekend, stopping in Singapore, Japan, and South Korea, among other places.
Hu Xijin, editor of Global Times and analyst for Chinese state media, on Twitter threatened that Pelosi will be ‘forcibly dispelled’.
“If US fighter jets escort Pelosi’s plane into Taiwan, it is invasion,” Hu said. “The PLA has the right to forcibly dispel Pelosi’s plane and the US fighter jets, including firing warning shots and making tactical movement of obstruction. If ineffective, then shoot them down.”

When Pelosi visited Beijing two years after the Communist Party of China (CPC) suppressed protestors, she was once booted from the Tiananmen Square for raising a banner without the consent of her Chinese hosts.
The 82-year-old House Speaker has played her cards close to the vest regarding whether she will visit Taiwan, saying that she doesn’t “ever talk about” her travel because it creates security issues for her team.
Even though the Biden administration seems to be trembling in terror, Pelosi has received strong bipartisan backing in Congress for her trip to Taiwan. China makes the fallacious assertion that Taiwan is its property.
This Monday, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Defense stated that the United States “must not arrange for Pelosi to visit Taiwan.”
However, Mike Pompeo, a former US secretary of state, stated that he would go with Nancy Pelosi if necessary on any potential trip to Taiwan. I’ll go with you, Nancy. China has blacklisted me, but Taiwan, which values freedom, has not. I’ll see you there,” tweeted Pompeo.
.@SpeakerPelosi. Nancy, I'll go with you. I'm banned in China, but not freedom-loving Taiwan. See you there!Advertisement

Additionally, Pompeo advised Biden not to succumb to Xi’s threats: “CCP mouthpiece The Global Times threatens to shoot down Pelosi’s plane if she visits Taiwan. This visit needs the full support of President Biden. Don’t be weak and cave in to the demands of petty warmongers and dictators in Beijing. Support the freedom-loving people of Taiwan.

“If the United States goes ahead with this, the Chinese military will never watch and do nothing,” Tan said. “It will take strong measures to thwart any external interference and separatist plans for ‘Taiwan independence’ and resolutely defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

“If the U.S. side is bent on going its own way, China will take strong measures to resolutely respond and counteract,” Chinese spokesman Zhao Lijian. “The United States should be held responsible for any serious consequences.”
