A Moroccan woman is accused of killing, butchering and cooking her lover before serving his remains to Pakistani workers in a traditional rice and meat dish known as machboos, United Arab Emirates authorities said.
The unnamed woman carried out the killing at her home in Al Ain after her boyfriend of seven years said he was planning to marry someone else in Morocco, prosecutors say.
Prosecutors in Al-Ain emirate said the woman, who is said to be in her 30s, was arrested on suspicion of killing her boyfriend of seven years after he told her of his plans to marry another person from Morocco, the National newspaper in Abu Dhabi reported. The woman and the man were not named.
Officers said she cut up his body and used a blender to mince her former partner’s remains before cooking and serving them to Pakistani workers near her home as machboos – a traditional Gulf dish of rice and meat similar to biryani.
It was not immediately clear how the man died, but the newspaper reported Tuesday he was killed three months ago. News of his death came to light in recent days after the man’s brother went looking for him and found a human tooth inside the woman’s blender, according to the paper.
According to The National, DNA tests confirmed the tooth belonged to the man and his girlfriend was arrested.
She was arrested and is said to have told police she carried out the killing in a moment of ‘insanity’. The woman said it was out of revenge, having financially provided for him for years.
She said she had asked a friend to help dispose of the body – but the friend denied witnessing the crime when questioned by police.
Police said the woman will face trial after a full investigation is complete. Dubai-based Gulf Newsreported the woman admitted to the slaying.
