On Wednesday Ohio State Governor Mike DeWine, said that he will do everything in his power to sign a controversial “heartbeat bill” that former Governor John Kasich banned last month. The proposal will make abortions illegal one the heartbeat of a fetus is detected.
According to Fox News, Gov. DeWine told conservative radio host Huh Hewitt on his show that he acknowledges the challenges the bill will face from groups such as planned parenthood once it is signed into law.
Dewine said the Supreme Court will make that decision when it works its way up there.
Because the first detectable heartbeat of a fetus can come as early as six weeks after conception, or before most women even know they are pregnant, if the bill is passed it will be the most restrictive abortion regulation in the country, as reported by WTVG-TV.
State House republican came up one vote short of reversing Kasich’s ban, while the House Passed the override measure.
